Consistent. Smart. Strong.
That’s the best way to sum up Carol.
She’s the perfect example of what we’re all about at Coastal: showing up, training with intention, and building strength that lasts.
Carol doesn’t force it. She listens to her body, makes smart decisions, and plays the long game—something we admire deeply. She’s proof that progress isn’t about going hard all the time, but about showing up and doing the work consistently.
We asked Carol a few questions to learn more about her journey and what keeps her coming back year after year.
When and why did you start coming to Coastal Strength & Fitness?
I joined in fall 2018. Before Coastal, I could never stay consistent with working out through all the changes life throws at you. I’d stick with something for a year or two, then fall off.
I tried Coastal because I liked the idea of following a workout plan designed by an expert, with a coach to guide me and keep me accountable. It’s worked—I’ve stuck with it for almost 7 years now!
What were you doing for exercise before Coastal?
Some hiking, a bit of running (nothing longer than a 5K), and off-and-on yoga. I’ve never played sports or considered myself particularly strong or athletic.
What results have you seen since joining?
The biggest shift is how I see myself.
I’m stronger and more capable than I ever realized.
Now I’m more active overall—doing much more hiking, paddleboarding, indoor rock climbing, and even speed-hiked a 50K with a friend!
Strength training and yoga at Coastal have also become huge parts of my mental health. I handle stress better and feel like a healthier, happier person all around—especially during the darker winter months.
What do you like most about Coastal?
The people! The coaches are fantastic, and I’ve made some great friendships here. I also love that I get to work out with my husband, Patrick (he joined in 2022), and a few friends who started coming after hearing about it.
What’s your favorite training day of the week and why?
Fridays! I love the mix of strength and cardio, and moving from station to station keeps things interesting. I always leave tired but energized at the same time.
Spirit Animal?
The Funko Pop of Carol Danvers (aka Captain Marvel) on her motorcycle in my office.
If you were a superhero, what would your power be?
The ability to pet all the dogs.
Favorite treat meal?
Homemade crunchwraps—we figured out how to make them and I’m obsessed!
Carol, we’re so proud of your progress and love having your steady presence in the gym. You’re proof that when you play the long game and keep showing up, amazing things happen. 💚
